"The creation of a new life begins the moment the sperm burrows into the egg". "This is life's true miracle".
A pregnancy is 40 weeks (280 days). You may be asking yourself, why would I be pregnant for 10 months? This is where many women get confused. There are 2 weeks added in because we count pregnancy starting with the first day of your last menstrual period, not the first day from conception. If you started your period on January 1st, and you ovulated 14 days later and conceived, you would be 2 weeks pregnant on January 15th even though conception just took place. On January 29th, you would be exactly 4 weeks pregnant, even though you only conceived 2 weeks prior.
Up until 4 weeks when you test positive for pregnancy, there are many miraculous changes that are taking place within your body. This is a critical time for fetal development, as cells are multiplying at a staggering rate, forming your little miracle. This is the time when you should have or are planning to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and abstaining from all drug use. You also want to make sure that you are taking a daily prenatal vitamin that contains folic acid. You can purchase prenatal vitamins over the counter until you get in to see your practitioner, and then you may choose to take a prescription prenatal vitamin.
